Refund policy
Balmain Bicycle Mechanic is a specialist bicycle workshop. Many of the bicycles, parts and accessories we sell are carefully selected for particular applications, and compatibility can vary between bicycles, manufacturers, model years and component specifications.
If you are unsure whether a product or bicycle is suitable for your needs, we strongly encourage you to contact us before purchasing so we can assist with compatibility and selection.
Returns & Change of Mind
Balmain Bicycle Mechanic does not offer refunds for change of mind.
For eligible unused parts and accessories, we may accept a return request made within 30 days of receiving the item and provide an exchange or store credit at our discretion.
To be eligible for a discretionary change-of-mind return, an item must be unused, in the same condition in which it was received, with any tags and original packaging, and accompanied by proof of purchase.
Bicycle parts that have been installed, fitted or where installation has been attempted are considered used and cannot be returned for change of mind.
This change-of-mind policy is separate from, and does not limit, any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Bicycles & Restored Goods
Bicycles supplied by Balmain Bicycle Mechanic, including restored, vintage and workshop-prepared bicycles, are individually assessed and prepared for sale.
We do not offer returns, refunds, exchanges or store credit for change of mind on bicycles.
Vintage, restored and pre-owned bicycles may display age-related wear, patina, cosmetic variation or other characteristics consistent with their history. We take reasonable care to describe and present each bicycle accurately and to disclose material known characteristics or defects where reasonably practicable.
If you are unsure whether a bicycle is suitable for you, we encourage you to discuss the bicycle with us before purchasing. Test rides may be available by appointment, subject to bicycle availability, suitability and workshop approval.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law where a bicycle does not comply with an applicable consumer guarantee.
Parts & Accessories
Bicycle parts are often model-specific and compatibility may depend on the bicycle, component specification, manufacturer, model year and existing configuration.
Customers are responsible for selecting products appropriate for their intended application. Where requested, we are happy to provide reasonable assistance with product selection and compatibility before purchase.
Parts or accessories that have been installed, used, damaged after delivery, altered or where installation has been attempted cannot be returned for change of mind.
This does not affect your rights where goods are faulty, incorrectly supplied, not as described or otherwise fail to comply with the Australian Consumer Law.
Special Orders & Custom Goods
Special-order, custom, personalised or specifically sourced goods may not be eligible for change-of-mind return, exchange or store credit where they have been ordered or prepared specifically at the customer's request.
Where a special order is cancelled before supply, any deposit or amount retained will be dealt with in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable law, taking into account costs and commitments reasonably incurred.
Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under the Australian Consumer Law.
Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Goods
Please inspect your order after receiving it and contact us as soon as reasonably possible if an item appears to be faulty or damaged, is not as described, or if you have received the wrong item.
We may ask for photographs or other reasonable information to help us assess the issue and determine the appropriate next step.
Where goods fail to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, the appropriate remedy may include repair, replacement, refund or another remedy in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
Nothing in this policy requires a customer to accept a remedy that would be inconsistent with their rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Exchanges & Store Credit
Where we accept an eligible change-of-mind return, we may provide an exchange or store credit rather than a cash refund.
Returned goods must satisfy the eligibility requirements set out in this policy before an exchange or store credit is issued.
Where a return arises because goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise fail to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, your rights and the available remedy are determined in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law rather than our discretionary change-of-mind policy.
Return Shipping
For discretionary change-of-mind returns, original shipping charges are not refundable and the customer is responsible for the cost of returning the goods to us.
Where goods are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise fail to comply with an applicable consumer guarantee, responsibility for reasonable return or transport costs will be determined in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law.
We recommend contacting us before returning an item so that we can confirm the appropriate return arrangements.
Refunds
Where a refund is required under the Australian Consumer Law or otherwise approved by Balmain Bicycle Mechanic, we will notify you once the return or claim has been assessed.
Approved monetary refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method. Once processed by us, the time taken for funds to appear may depend on your bank, card provider or payment service.
If you believe an approved refund has not been received within a reasonable period, please contact us at marios.elles@balmainbicyclemechanic.com.
